QUEEN VICTORIA MUSEUM AND ART GALLERY FEASIBILITY STUDY
FEASIBILITY STUDY INTRODUCTION
APRIL 2018
BACKGROUND
The development, by Robyn Archer, AO of ‘Towards a Cultural Strategy for Launceston’ set out a vision for capitalizing on the broad range of cultural assets which exist in the city. The vision sees the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery as a centerpiece of the strategy.
In addition, documents such as the City’s Strategic Plan 2014-2024, the Greater Launceston Plan, the City Heart Project see Launceston growing and changing to meet contemporary needs, demands and community aspirations and opportunities.
The QVMAG Feasibility Study is a first step in determining how the organization should proceed to position itself to strengthen its role and contribute to the region’s future.
FEASIBILITY STUDY
The Study will investigate the following:
– The optimum operational model for QVMAG to fulfil its strategic goals
– The siting and spatial requirements of the Museum and Gallery to achieve the growth objectives – The cost benefit of any proposed changes
– The economic, environmental and social impact of change
